The Wonder | Book Review

Author: Emma Donoghue
Genre: Historical Fiction
Rating: 4/5

DESCRIPTION

In the latest masterpiece by Emma Donoghue, bestselling author of Room, an English nurse brought to a small Irish village to observe what appears to be a miracle-a girl said to have survived without food for months-soon finds herself fighting to save the child's life.
Tourists flock to the cabin of eleven-year-old Anna O'Donnell, who believes herself to be living off manna from heaven, and a journalist is sent to cover the sensation. Lib Wright, a veteran of Florence Nightingale's Crimean campaign, is hired to keep watch over the girl.
Written with all the propulsive tension that made Room a huge bestseller, THE WONDER works beautifully on many levels--a tale of two strangers who transform each other's lives, a powerful psychological thriller, and a story of love pitted against evil.

Popsugar Reading Challenge 2017

Hello, everyone!

Yes, I know I haven’t posted anything since early December, and yes, I’m aware that I promised to be active and I wasn’t. But today I decided I’ll get back into blogging.

I won’t have a blogging schedule, since that only puts pressure on me to deliver new posts every certain day. I’ll blog only when I’m in the mood, or have the time, or have the content or all of them at once. Luckily, in about two weeks I’ll be finishing this Uni semester, so I’ll have plenty of time to create new content.

Now, let’s get on with this post!

I know I’m a bit late for posting this challenge, but I just got around reading it and I’m going to try and complete it! Well, I might not actually complete it, if I’m honest. I mean, there are 40 books on the list and I might only get around to reading 20 books in total during this year. But I’ll try!

My Christmas To-Do List | Blogmas Day 1

… And the countdown beings! 🎄🎅

Can you believe it’s the 1st of December already!? I certainly can’t. Time seems to pass by faster every year!

This year, I’ve decided to do Blogmas! “What is Blogmas?”, you may ask. Well, it’s a blogging feature where you have to share (or try to) a new blog post every day from December 1st to December 25th. These posts, of course, have to be Christmas themed.

Today I’m sharing with you my very first Blogmas post ever! And it’s a short list about what I’m planning to do during this holiday season.

Cuenca, Ecuador | 2016

Park Abdón Calderón and the New Cathedral behind it.

Hello, everyone!

A couple of weeks ago, my family and I went to the beautiful city of Cuenca, in the Highland of Ecuador. And what a better day to share my post about that trip than today: the day of Cuenca’s Independence.

Joyful Sundays #10

Hello, everyone!

My second week of Uni is over and, even though I had some blue days, there were also many things that illuminated my days!

I think that, whenever life gets tough, we need to focus more on the positive things, don’t you agree? Even if it’s just that you listened to your favorite song on repeat or that you finally ate something you’ve been craving for a long time. It’s the little things that we should also learn to enjoy.

My Favorite Disney Channel Halloween Movies

Hello, everyone!

With Halloween just around the corner, I can’t stop thinking about all these Halloween movies I used to watch when I was a kid. I remember I even got scared while watching Hocus Pocus, can you believe that!?

But easily-scared Salha is long gone, and now I can watch actual scary movies without even flinching *feels proud*. Well… That can be a bit creepy depending on how you feel about scary movies haha.

Aaanyway, here are some of my favorite Disney Channel Halloween movies!

1.- Halloweentown

After 13-year-old Marnie fights with her mom about not being allowed to celebrate Halloween for unknown reasons, her grandmother, who she rarely gets to see, arrives for her annual visit on Halloween night. But when Marnie overhears her grandmother and mother talking about the fact that she's a witch, she and her siblings follow their grandmother to her bus headed for Halloweentown. After their arrival, they show up at their grandmother's house and try and help her solve the mysterious disappearances that have happened recently. They come to find that Halloweentown's mayor, Kalabar, is responsible, and they use their powers (along with their mother's, who eventually comes to her senses) to defeat him.

I remember I used to watch this film over and over, and I imagined how cool it would be to have a witch grandma like Aggie.
